ACHIEVED (Ch. S., 1979 – 1993)

Stud Career/Stood 1983 – 1993
Achieved was a champion among champions, bred of champions. Undefeated at two, He won the Group I Gallaghouse Phoenix Stakes and the Group II Laurent Perrier Champagne Stakes. He was named champion Irish 2-year-old colt in 1981 over classmates Golden Fleece and Assert. At three, Achieved took the Group II Tetrarch Stakes after finishing second in the Gladness Stakes. He also placed third in the Group I Sussex Stakes and the Group II Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.
Achieved was a son of champion Thatch by champion Forli. His dam, the Klarion mare Last Call produced multiple stakes winner Final Straw, a full brother to Achieved and an important National Stud sire in England.

BELTED EARL (Ch. S., 1978 – 1998) Damascus – Moccasin, by Nantallah
Stud Career/Stood 1983 – 1998
Unraced at two, undefeated at three, Belted Earl’s lifetime record was four wins in six starts. He was a multiple Group III stakes winner and was named champion sprinter and champion older horse in Ireland. He won the Desmond Stakes (Ire-III), at three, defeating Group I stakes winner and $477,568 earner Cairn Rouge, and the Greenlands Stakes (Ire-III), at four.
By Horse-of-the-Year Damascus and out of Horse-of-the-Year Moccasin, both the top and bottom of his pedigree gave Belted Earl significant success at stud. His first 3 crops to race produced 5 stakes horses. Belted Earl’s Adjusted SPI of 1.84, through October 1989, ranked him high among stallions with first foals of 1984, ahead of both Assert and Conquistador Cielo.
With 10 crops of racing age, he had 80% winners from starters, including multiple stakes winners Big Earl, winner of 6 stakes (the Prelude S., Louisiana Breeders’ Derby, El Conquistador S. and back to back wins in the Cajun S.) with earnings in excess of $5000,000., Rock House, winner of the Tuscaloosa S. and West Virginia Lottery Breeders’ Classic also placed second in the Pine Ridge S.; stakes winners Moni Marlena and Titled Toff and stakes placed Shaded Blue, Prices Holly Boy, Takeamoment and Another Earl. In 1992, Belted Earl’s Key Twenty Two set a new course record at Woodbine -- 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:14.20.

Downing’s homebred multiple graded stakes-placed son of Grey Dawn II, Cameroon had a career marked by uncommon courage, speed and stamina. He placed in the Louisville H., the Stars and Stripes H. (Gr.-III), the Laurance Armour H. (Gr.-III) and the General Casimir Pulaski Invitational H. Cameroon set a new course record at Churchill Downs going 1-1/16 miles in 1:41.88 and was ranked as one of America’s top competitors over the classic distance of 1 _ miles on the turf.
This combined with a superb out-cross to the Northern Dancer and Mr. Prospector lines and first crop sales ranging in excess of four times his service fee made him an invaluable asset to our breeding program.

GREGORIAN (Dk. B./Br. S., 1976 – 2002) Graustark – Natashka, by Dedicate
Stud Career 1981 – 2002; Stood 1989 – 2002
Gregorian was a top racehorse in the tradition of Graustark and Ribot, his sire and grandsire. He won or placed in 8 of 9 career starts. Wins included the Joe McGrath Memorial Stakes (Ire-I), the Westbury Stakes (Eng-III) and the Brigadier Gerard Stakes (Eng-III). He Placed in the Coral Eclipse Stakes (Eng-I), King George-Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes (Eng-I), Ballymoss Stakes (Ire-II) and Royal Whip Stakes (Ire-III).
Gregorian sired 101 individual winners, with earnings in excess of $3,000,000. His SPI of 2.32 and AEI of 2.11 ranked him in the top 1% of all broodmare sires. He offered access to the Ribot Graustark bloodlines, and was a complete outcross to Northern Dancer and Raise A Native mares.
His winning progeny included Champion and Canadian Horse-of-the-Year Imperial Choice and 21 other stakes horses, among them the multiple stakes winner Tot Of Rum, winner of the Niagara H. (Gr.-III) with earnings in excess of $625,000., Musical Respite, Wendy Walker, La Caleche, Swallow and Don Diege.
